Uses
Amoxicillin belongs to a class of antibiotic medicines called penicillin. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract (bronchitis, pneumonia), genital and urinary tract (gonorrhoea, ), skin and soft tissue, ear (otitis media); nose, sinus, and throat (tonsillitis, sinusitis); heart (endocarditis), kidney, urethra or bladder, blood (septicemia), teeth and gums (abcesses), typhoid and paratyphoid fever.
How it works
Amoxicillin kills bacteria by interfering with the production of the bacterial cell wall (outer coating of bacteria). As a result, the bacterial cell wall is weakened and ruptured, thereby killing the bacteria.
Dosage
Always follow the instructions of doctor regarding the dosage and duration.
Normal infections in adults, elderly, and children over 10 years: 250-750 mg taken thrice daily.
Severe or recurrent lung infection: 3 -6 g twice daily.
Maximum recommended dose in adults should not exceed 6 g per day, given in divided doses.
Common side effects
Nausea, loose stools, vomitting, skin rash, pain and irritation at the site of injection, severe skin allergies.
Who should not take
Amoxicillin should not be taken if you are allergic to penicillin, amoxicillin or any other antibiotic or its ingredients.

Dosage

Adults: 250 to 500 for 7-21 days, every 6 hours.
Children: (<40 kg): 3.125-6.25 mg/kg, every 6 hours.
Children: (>40 kg): 125-250 mg, every 6 hours.
Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, gastric discomfort, gas, loose stools, skin rashes; pale red, raised, itchy skin rash and itching of skin,abnormal blood counts, severe inflammation in large intestine, anaphylactic reactions (severe and life-threatening allergic reaction), kidney problems.
Who should not take
Do not take dicloxacillin capsule/liquid if you:
Are allergic to dicloxacillin or any other ingredient of capsule or any other penicillin antibiotic (eg, amoxicillin, ampicillin).
Are taking a tetracycline antibiotic (eg, doxycycline).Lactobacillus(2.5 Mg)
