Rosuvastatin(10 Mg)
Uses
Rosuvastatin is used for the treatment and prevention of high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia), high lipid levels (hyperlipidemia), and to lower the risk of stroke, heart attack, or other heart complications in people with type 2 diabetes, and disease of coronary artery of heart (coronary heart disease).
How it works
Rosuvastatin belongs to a group of medications called statins (lipid-lowering agents) or HMG CoA reductase inhibitors. It acts by blocking the enzyme HMG CoA reductase and formation of cholesterol, thus, lowering the blood lipid levels.
Dosage
Always follow the instructions of doctor regarding the dosage and duration.
Adults: 5-40 mg once daily.
Children with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (10 to 17 years of age): 5-20 mg/day.
Common side effects
Stomach pain, constipation, feeling sick, muscle pain, weakness, dizziness, abdominal pain, an increase in the amount of protein in the urine, diabetes (if you have high levels of sugars and blood pressure), skin reactions.
Who should not take
Children younger than 6 years.
Higher dose (40 mg) is not suitable for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age.
If you have severe respiratory failure.
