Etoricoxib(60 Mg)
Uses
Etoricoxib is used to treat the pain and swelling due to diseases affecting the muscles, joints and tendons, like strains, gout, ankylosing spondylitis or arthritis as well as mild to moderate pain during dental operations.
How it works
Etoricoxib belongs to a group of medication called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by inhibiting the release of prostaglandins, which are pain causing chemicals specifically at the site of inflammation in the body.
Dosage
Always follow the instructions of doctor regarding the dosage and duration.
Rheumatoid arthritis in adults: 90 mg once daily.
Osteoarthritis in adults: 30 mg once daily up to a maximum of 60 mg daily.
Ankylosing spondylitis in adults: 90 mg once daily.
Gout in adults: 120 mg once daily during period of pain for a maximum of 8 days.
Post-operative dental surgery pain in adults: 90 mg once daily for a maximum of 3 days.
Children (<16 years): Not recommended.
Common side effects
Stomach pain, swelling in the legs due to fluid retention, dizziness, headache, irregular or fast heartbeat, rise in blood pressure, indigestion/ stomach discomfort, stomach inflammation, heartburn, gas, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, mouth ulcers, breathlessness, changes in blood parameters related to liver, weakness and fatigue, flu-like symptoms, abnormal blood counts, change in appetite, weight gain, anxiety, depression, hallucinations, sleep disturbances, blurring of vision, ringing in ears, sensation of spinning, nose bleeds, swelling of face, heart and kidney problems, severe allergic reaction.
Who should not take
Individuals who are allergic to etoricoxib, similar drugs (pain-relieving medications) or any other ingredient of the tablet.
Patients who have stomach ulcer or bleeding in stomach or intestine.
Patients who have a serious liver or kidney disease.
Patients who have any inflammatory disease of the gut like ulcerative colitis or Crohn
