Ethinyl Estradiol(3 Mg)
Uses
Ethinylestradiol is used to treat the deficiency of female sex hormone and associated risk of bone loss and fractures in post-menopausal women. In menstruating women, it is used for the treatment of menstrual disorders. It is also used as a hormone replacement therapy to treat young women with underdeveloped ovaries (failure of ovarian development). Ethinylestradiol is even used in men for treating prostate cancer.
How it works
Ethinylestradiol belongs to a class of medications called estrogens (female hormones). It is a synthetic form of the naturally occurring hormone and helps in development and maintenance of menstrual cycle. In post-menopausal women, it works by reducing the post-menopausal symptoms and risk of weakening bones and bone fracture.
Common side effects
Changes in menstrual cycles, Irritation or swelling of the vaginal tissues, Stomach cramps, Dark skin patches, Change in appetite, Missed menstrual periods, Breast tenderness and enlargement, Bloating, Nausea and vomiting, Swelling of hands and feet, Bleeding and spotting between your periods, Hair loss, As well as weight gain
Drospirenone(0.02 Mg)
Uses
Drospirenone is used in combination with ethinyl estradiol as a birth control pill (oral contraceptive) in women. It is also used for a disease called premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD; severe depression, irritability and tension just before menstruation), moderate acne, and to prevent osteoporosis in post-menopausal women.
How it works
Drospirenone is progesterone, and together with estradiol, it can provide contraception by suppressing release of ovum (eggs) from your ovary, and interfering with other mechanisms that support occurrence of pregnancy. It suppresses the natural progesterone in the body, and thereby helps in PMDD and acne. Its mechanism of action in prevention of osteoporosis is not known.
