Glyceryl Trinitrate(2.6 Mg)
Uses
Glyceryl Trinitrate is used in the prevention and treatment of the chest pain associated with angina (when the blood supply to the muscles of the heart is restricted).
How it works
Glyceryl Trinitrate belongs to a group of medicines known as nitrates. Nitrates temporarily relax smooth muscles, including those found in the walls of blood vessels in the heart. This reduces strain on the heart by making it easier for it to pump blood.
Dosage
Always follow the instructions of doctor regarding the dosage and duration.
Angina Pectoris (Adults and the elderly):
Tablets (0.3 mg): One tablet to be dissolved slowly under the tongue. The treatment may be repeated but for pain persisting for more than 15 minutes medical care should be sought.
Patch (37.4 mg): Treatment should be initiated with one patch daily. If necessary the dosage may be increased to two patches. Dose may vary in elderly.
Spray: One or two 400 microgram metered doses sprayed under the tongue. It may be repeated at five minute intervals for a total of three doses.
Ointment (glyceryl trinitrate 2%): 1 to 2 inches of the ointment. This dose may be repeated every 3 to 4 hours as needed.
