Common side effects
Allergy (skin rash, red or itchy skin), worsening of the condition that is being treated, skin thinning, suppression of hormone release from higher centers in the brain after prolonged treatment, dilated and prominent blood vessels of the skin, striae (irregular bands or strips at the site of application which are different in color than the normal skin).
Who should not take
Patients allergic to hydrocortisone or any other ingredients in the formulation.
Patients with infected or broken skin.

Crotamiton is used to treat scabies and to relieve itching and skin irritation associated with sunburn, dry eczema (type of itchy skin rash), dermatitis (red and itchy skin), allergic rashes, hives, nettle rash (pale red, raised, itchy skin rash), chickenpox, heat rashes, personal itching, insect bites and stings.
How it works
Crotamiton belongs to two classes of medicines called antipruritics and scabicides. It works by killing the mites, which cause scabies.
Dosage

Pruritus in adults: 10% crotamiton Cream or lotion, 2-3 daily applications of on affected area.
Scabies in adults: Once daily application after bath (when the skin is dry) preferably in evening for 3-5 days.
Common side effects
Itching of skin (pruritus), redness and itching of the skin due to contact to affected person (contact dermatitis), severe allergic reaction like rash, type of itchy skin rash (eczema), redness of skin (erythema), skin irritation, swelling of eyes and lips (angioedema).
Who should not take
Patients who are allergic to crotamiton or any of its ingredients.
Patients with acute exudative dermatoses (red and itchy skin with pus).
