Dibucaine is used to provide temporary relief from pain and itching associated with minor burns, sunburns, swollen and inflamed blood vessels around the anus (hemorrhoids), insect bites, cuts, scratches, stings and other irritations.
How it works
Dibucaine belongs to a class of drugs called local anesthetics. It temporarily numbs the area of skin on which it is applied and blocks sensations of pain and irritation.
Dosage
Always follow the instructions of doctor regarding the dosage and duration.
Adult: apply 3 to 4 times on the affected area daily (max. 1 oz in 24 hours).
Children: apply 3 to 4 times on the affected area daily (max. 1/4 oz in 24 hours). Use in children aged below 12 years should be strictly under medical supervision.
Common side effects
Chest pain, fast or irregular heartbeat, tightness in chest, sudden reddening of skin with increased heat (flushing), loose motions (diarrhea), eye irritations, urge to vomit (nausea), vomiting; itchy bumps on skin (hives); difficulty in breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat; fits, coma, breathing difficulties; blue-coloration of skin; headache, tiredness.
Who should not take
Patients allergic to dibucaine or any other ingredient in the medicine.
Children aged below 2 years.
