Uses
Lapatinib is used alone or in combination with another anti-cancer medicine to treat certain types of breast cancer (HER2-overexpressing) which have spread beyond the original tumor or to other organs (advanced or metastatic breast cancer).
How it works
Lapatinib belongs to a class of medications called antineoplastic kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply thus helping to slow or stop the spread of cancer cells.
