Uses
Pemetrexed is used in the treatment of a type of lung cancer called non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer and in the treatment of another cancer called malignant pleural mesothelioma (a type of cancer that originates from the lining of the various organs of the body).
How it works
Pemetrexed belong to class of chemotherapy drugs called folate antimetabolites. It disrupts certain metabolic processes essential for cancer cell replication and multiplication.
Common side effects
Watery eyes, Decreased or loss of appetite, Abdominal and stomach pain, Low platelets, Taste change, Chest pain, Acne and infections, Abnormally low white blood cells and associated fever, Pain in abdomen, Skin rash, Nausea, Stomach upset, Acute kidney failure, Allergic reactions like swelling of face, Acute toxicity, Dehydration, Upset stomach, Fever, Fatigue, A rash or redness of the skin, Vomiting, Constipation, Diarrhea, Hair loss, Joints or muscles pain, Application site irritation and redness of skin, Anemia, Peripheral loss of sensation
