How it works
It works by relaxing blood vessels and slowing heart rate to improve blood flow and decrease blood pressure.Early intervention and start of metoprolol in myocardial infarction reduces infarct size and the incidence of ventricular fibrillation.
Dosage
Always follow the instructions of doctor regarding the dosage and duration.
Adults: 12.5 - 100 mg daily, maximum dose: 200-400 mg daily.
Common side effects

How it works
Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to class of medications called thiazide diuretics. It acts by eliminating the fluid and salts from the body. It works on the kidneys to produce more urine which removes extra water and certain salts from the body which in turn lowers blood pressure and swelling.
Dosage
Always follow the instructions of doctor regarding dosage and duration.
Treatment of hypertension in adults: Initial dose of 25 mg once daily. Maintenance dose may increase to 50 mg as a single or 2 divided doses.
Treatment of edema in adults: 25 to 100 mg daily as a single or divided dose.
Children below 18 years of age: Not recommended.
Common side effects
Electrolyte imbalance, decrease in blood cell count, increase in cholesterol, glucose, or uric acid levels.severe skin allergies, stomach irritation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, jaundice, inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), muscle cramps, presence of glucose in urine, kidney dysfunction, kidney failure, fever, dizziness, hypersensitivity reactions.
