Uses
Diclofenac is used in the treatment of painful conditions of joints, lower back pain, sprains or bone fractures, inflammation of joints (frozen shoulder, gout), pain and swelling following skeletal muscle, dental and other minor surgeries. It is also used in treatment of migraine.
How it works
Diclofenac belongs to group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by blocking the production of a certain chemical substance in the body that causes pain, fever, and inflammation.
Dosage
Always follow the instructions of doctor regarding the dosage and duration.
Treatment of musculoskeletal and joint related pain, dysmenorrhea, migraine, postoperative pain:
Adult: 100-150 mg tablet in divided doses.
Children: 75-100 mg in two or three divided doses.
Post-photorefractive keratectomy pain:
Adults: diclofenac sodium 0.1% solution, 4 times within 2 hours before surgery.
Seasonal allergic conjunctivitis, pain and discomfort after radial keratotomy, pain after accidental trauma.
Adults: diclofenac sodium 0.1% eye drops, 4 times daily.
Osteoarthritis, local symptomatic relief of pain and inflammation.
Adults: diclofenac sodium 1% or 3% gel; apply onto affected area 3 or 4 times daily.
